Camping Le Puits is a family run campsite in the village of St Martin des Besaces offering camping / caravanning and Bed & Breakfast. Perfectly situated for exploring the undulating picturesque countryside, tasting renowned cheeses, sampling sparkling cider and of course, the famous Calvados. Once a working farmstead, the grounds (9 acres) have been re-designed with 30 large individually marked pitches, hedges, apple trees and borders overlooking lush green fields. The farmhouse, which has been tastefully renovated, retains its country charm with 4 elegantly decorated en-suite rooms providing comfortable Bed & Breakfast accommodation with pleasant views.
To the North of St Martin des Besaces are the D-day Landing Beaches, where they recently celebrated the 65th Anniversary of the landings, and Bayeux with its famous tapestry. To the South is the historic and pretty village of Domfront, within Normandy's large regional park. To the East in Suisse Normand (little Switzerland) is Clécy with a miniature railway and the River Orne for canoeing and fishing. To the West lies the breathtaking Le Mont St Michel and the beaches along the Cotentin shoreline. Within the village, there is a Museum dedicated to the liberation of the Bocage Region and for the more adventurous - nearby Bungy Jumping.
Peter and Fran offer all visitors a warm, friendly welcome and endeavour to make your visit to Normandy as enjoyable and memorable as possible. **** IF YOU ARE A "NEWBIE" ***** (IE: First time driving or camping / caravanning on the continent) you will find us welcoming with ENGLISH spoken. Ferry ports are within easy access and we can assist you with any issues you may encounter in a new foreign environment. So, GO ON! give France a try this season with us here at Camping le Puits
REFLECTIVE JACKETS & WARNING TRIANGLES IN FRANCE A law concerning the compulsory carrying of a reflective jacket (EN471) and a warning triangle (ECE R27) in France came into force on 1st July 2008. The fine for non-compliance will be between €90 and €135.
IMPENDING LEGISLATION change regarding breathalyzer kits This is a advisory notice from the 1st July 2012, but will become a legal requirement as from the 1st November 2012. Motorists heading to France for holidays this summer will have to carry a breathalyser kit in their vehicles, it has been revealed. The warning from the IAM comes as drivers in France prepare for rules meaning they'll have to carry one of the kits by July 1. There will then follow a grace period to allow the new rules to bed themselves in. However, drivers not complying by November will be handed an 11 euro fine. Motorists heading into France for holidays will be able to pick up a breathalyser kit from ferry and tunnel terminals. They should cost no more than £2. Link to RAC page on the subject
